Our Trip to the Museum

Last week we had a rather spontaneous trip to the Museum to see the Pandemonium of Parrots exhibition. Nicky is the Museum teacher and she entranced us all with her energy and storytelling. We got to have a close look at some of our native parrots - kea, kaka, kakariki, kakapo and some other native NZ birds. Nicky was impressed with our great questioning skills.

Every Friday at 11am we have a "Mystery Reader" come in and read us something of their choosing. It is an opportunity for the kids to be exposed to a variety of different texts, hear a voice other than mine, and it brings the community into our classroom strengthening connections for us all. The kids are totally on board with it and the anticipation at 10.59am on a Friday is awesome. Thanks to Gerd and Dr Potaka for joining us. Who will be next?
